Teens

Empowering teens to love God passionately and serve others sacrificially.

This is our ministry to high school teens from the age of 14 years – 19 years.

Mission: To promote teens personal intimacy with God and raise a godly community of young people that will impact their world. (Based on the great commission: Mat 28:19-20)

Who are our teens?

They are urbanites, most of them born bred in Nairobi. Like most teenagers their age, the biggest need for a Club Jesus teen is the need to find their identity. This however is not the only need they have as they are also growing in their social interactions, independence & self dicipline, building their own value systems and their relationship with God. These needs inform how we do our ministry with them.

When do we meet?

We meet at YWCA (Beecher Hall) on Sundays from 10:00 – 11:30am

CAMP360

Camp 360 is a transformational camp that is held every year through the partnership of several churches in Nairobi. Since 2011, Camp 360 has served as a great opportunity for bringing young people together and influencing them to follow Christ.

This year marks our 8th anniversary since we started these transformation camps. In this period , we have been privileged to witness teens coming to faith, discipleship relationships being established, talents being natured and everything in between! Camp360 has impacted over 500 teens in Nairobi since its inception and continues to attract interest in the young generation to date.

This year, the Camp 360 leadership hopes to leverage on their past success to create a movement of young people, courageous and unashamed of the gospel so that together we may impact the nations for Christ.

KENYA MUSIC PROJECT

This is an exchange program between Germans and Kenyans in spreading the word of God through music.
This year marks 12 years since Kenya Music Project began. After the ten year celebrations held last year, the core leaders sat together to deliberate on the future of the project. During this meeting, the Germans shared the dire need for the gospel to be preached throughout the Eastern part of Germany due to the increase in lack of faith experienced in this region. They shared on how much godlessness there is in this area due to increasingly dwindling practice of Christianity.

A new generation is coming up with little or no knowledge of the faith and hence very little regard for it since even the older people consider church occasional (to be attended during Easter and Christmas). Most state churches are almost empty and people do not live out the faith. Church is not a place to commune with fellow believers and be charged to evangelize to the world. This is such an emergency because the younger generations don’t even consider the Bible an authority in their lives. This situation was not getting better fast enough. More needed to be done.

As a result, a team of 11 young people will travel to Germany and do a tour around the Brandenburg state alongside a team from Germany and the U.S. During the tour, the team will make visits to youth rehabilitation centers, teens camps, refugee camps, schools and old people’s homes with a sole purpose of sharing the good news of Christ’s Love with them. These young people will host hang outs dubbed “Kijiji” where they will seek to form relationships with the youth in the area in order to share their faith. The tour will take place between the 13th August and 5th of September, 2017.

In order to attract a bigger number of young people attending the concerts this year and hence get the chance to evangelize, there was need to have a dynamic team with great artistic skills and a desire to share the love of Jesus with others.

Theme

The theme for this year is ‘Imara’ Still Standing. We are taking time to reflect on God’s faithfulness in keeping us, even in light of the celebrations of 500 years since the reformation.

The major objectives for this tour are as follows:

  • Charging up the teens involved in the tour to be ambassadors of Christ wherever they go throughout the year by doing intentional topics during team devotions and one-on-one interactions with mentors.
  • Reaching out to a great amount of young people with the Gospel of Jesus by attracting them using excellently done music and dance.
  • Showing young people that it’s possible to have clean fun as Christians by having high energy “Kijiji” hang outs.
Encouraging Christians to live out their faith; to be salt and light.
