My name is Jane Kagundah. I belong to the Karen Real group that meets every Tuesday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. I joined the Real group in April 2013 a few months after it had been started.
I became the Real Group leader in October 2015 after my predecessor, Doris Mugambi, was assigned to lead the Southern Zone. The call to leadership seemed quite daunting at first due to other similar responsibilities I was handling. As I prayed about it, I was quickly reminded that when God calls us to His service, He equips us to accomplish His purpose by His Holy Spirit and not through our strength or might.
My experience as a leader has impacted my life by causing me to constantly examine myself, and especially whether I am becoming more like Christ and helping those around me to do the same. Leadership has also caused me to grow deeper in my prayer life and dependence on the Holy Spirit for direction, including physical and spiritual strength. I have been learning that no matter how excellent my leadership may be, it is God who brings forth fruit from my service. God has been teaching me that all He requires from me is simple obedience to His prompting and becoming a willing vessel to be used by Him. I have witnessed these as we’ve collectively obeyed God to take the message of the Gospel to the Assumbi Treatment Center (ATC) in Karen, and have seen many men give their lives to Christ. I’m grateful to God for the opportunity to serve Him in this capacity and pray that I will continue to serve Him willingly and with excellence.
